Genetec analyzes the management of access rights during the pandemic and deconfinement

Genetec accesoLatin America. Most organizations have had to adjust their workflow to ensure the safety of their employees during the pandemic. According to a survey prepared by INEGI in Mexico, during the period of confinement, 50% of companies have implemented technical stoppages or temporary closures as a preventive measure(1). In Latin America, 96% of organizations have implemented teleworking, on a smaller or larger scale(2).

However, some governments have begun to loosen their local regulations. In Mexico, for example, the Federal Government established the COVID-19 Traffic Light to determine and guide the different states and municipalities on the mobility that each one should have during the pandemic according to the risk of contagion, as a strategy to reactivate the economy safely. In this same way, other countries in Latin America are also defining strategies to activate the economy, so it is important to prepare for a phase of reopening or returning to the new normal, while maintaining the security of your organization.

As employees gradually return to work, companies need to establish an efficient and safe way to manage this increase in traffic. The beginning of the deconfinement phase means you are one step closer to returning to a normal work environment, depending on local regulations.

Therefore, Genetec says it is important to have an access and physical identity management system that is adaptable and easy to use to help organizations manage the flow of employees and visitors in the process of confinement and deconfinement.

Control the flow of traffic in the office during confinement
Securing your establishment in confinement introduces unique challenges to the safety of your organization. With local regulations mandating remote working, the number of individuals allowed in a building at any given time is limited, forcing organizations to enforce stricter access control.

Allowing or restricting employee access to certain parts of a building is one way to maintain social distancing in your organization. This reminds employees of the areas they can navigate, while keeping track of their overall movements, helping to keep everyone in their area safe.

The ability to quickly and easily adjust access control system settings to control flow in the office is key, as a pandemic is unpredictable and constantly evolving.

Manage remote access rights
The absence of on-site staff is another key factor affecting the safety of the organization during lockdown.

Since a limited number of employees are allowed into offices, remote control of an organization's access control system is critical. With the right system, you can manage the access of your employees and visitors from anywhere. This allows you greater control of your organization's access rights, no matter your location.

It's important to trust the versatility of your security system, especially in a situation like this. Whether in confinement or deconfinement, your security solution should allow you to adjust the access settings of your employees and visitors according to the context. In this way, you will be able to maintain the safety of everyone and the establishment, while complying with the evolution of local regulations.

Prepare for the next wave of hiring
The lockdown has affected the hiring process of many organizations around the world, as regulations have been put in place that establish social distancing and remote work. It's important to look ahead and prepare your organization for its next wave of hiring, as the deconfinement phase begins gradually in some regions.

Physical identity and access management are essential to maintaining the flow of visitors and employees in all areas of your facility. This is especially true when hiring new employees.

Quickly and efficiently establishing access rights for new employees requires an adaptable and scalable access control system, especially if more employees are hired than usual, when restarting operations affected by the pandemic.

Your organization's security system is a complex machine made up of many moving parts. Physical identity and access management is a cog in that machine that requires a flexible, easy-to-use system, especially during a pandemic.

Use technology that meets your physical identity and access management needs
Your access rights evolve throughout periods of confinement and deconfinement, so you need a system that can evolve with it. There is currently technology, such as Genetec ClearID™ that helps organizations manage their physical identity and access rights with ease, allowing you to adjust the access rights of your employees and visitors quickly, remotely and in detail.

Whether you're controlling employee access to areas of your facility or making it easier for visitors to experience check-in kiosks, Clear ID is an adaptable system that can manage your organization's access rights from anywhere with an Internet connection.
