The Gunfire Detector combines sound and infrared detection technologies with immediate data analysis in the cloud that can analyze any loud noise that exceeds environmental levels by a certain threshold.
The system determines the location of the shots, the number of shots and even the type and caliber of the weapon used, and in the following ten seconds sends an alert to the corresponding dispatch center of the authorities, helping to greatly reduce the time needed to locate and reduce the shooters.
The Gunfire Detector device is a small 7.6-centimeter triangular unit that is mounted in a corner of the roof and offers gunshot detection for an area of more than 830 square meters. It uses Wi-Fi and cloud-based machine learning technology to send and analyze data and can connect to third-party alarm, surveillance, door locking, and mass notification systems.
Each detector monitors ambient noise and infrared level, with a full second of data recorded around any instance of a sudden increase in noise or light level. If an infrared flash or a sound of more than 10 dB higher than ambient noise is detected, all detectors in the range send the captured acoustic and IR signals to the machine learning system, where they are compared with a database of thousands of signatures of acquaintances, filtering false alarms, such as car ignitions or fireworks, through its different acoustic signatures.
