Latin America. Peru and Chile are the two new Latin American countries that will join Hanwha Techwin's STEP professional certification program, joining Mexico, Colombia and Brazil.
"Unlike other brands, we decided to involve certifications as a benefit within our table of all the benefits and obligations that integrators have within the STEP program," said María Fernanda Domínguez, STEP program manager in Latin America.
This program was developed for security industry professionals and technical vendors in order to increase their competitiveness in the brand's products and adopt best practices for the installation and implementation of video surveillance solutions.
According to Domínguez, certifications in this industry have fallen, among others, due to the high turnover among engineer integrators, in whose name the certifications are issued. Hence, the integrating companies decide not to reinvest in training these professionals who take their respective certification with them to other integrators who did not make the investment.
Therefore, with the aim of regaining the confidence of integrators to invest in certifying their staff, the Hanwha Techwin certificate appears with the name of the engineer who was certified as well as the name of the integrating company. In case it goes to another company, the integrator has the obligation to notify that it is no longer part of it and the certificate will be canceled. However, Hanwha Techwin gives the integrator once a year a quota to replace that certified person who left.
On the other hand, as a benefit for the Silver channels there are five free certification quotas that they can use during the year; on the other hand, the Oro channels have 12.
According to Dominguez, this series of changes have led to certifications skyrocketing again. Such is the case of Mexico, where the program was launched three years ago for Latin America, because although monthly certifications are commonly made, several have had to be carried out there during the month since the quota has been filled.
For the executive of Hanwha Techwin, it is sought that right now this same thing happens in Peru and Chile, as it has been happening in the other countries of the region in which this program works.
