Mexico. Avigilon, a Motorola Solutions company, announced that it was selected to improve the security of the Integral Port Administration (API) Guaymas, Sonora, one of the most used ports and with the best strategic location located in the northwest of Mexico.
As one of Mexico's busiest and most strategically located ports, API Guaymas imports and exports nearly six million metric tons of cargo to and from Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas per year.
To optimize security and comply with government regulations, the port, in a joint work with the telecommunications solutions company, Global VoIP de Mexico S.A. de C.V., installed a comprehensive security solution Avigilon, which includes multi-sensor and high-definition video cameras HD Pro, HD Dome and HD Multisensor, as well as Avigilon Control Center (ACC) video management software and Avigilon network video recorders. The port is also implementing the Access Control Manager (ACM) system in order to protect physical access points throughout its facilities.
With resolutions ranging from 8 MP (4K) to 30 MP (7K), Avigilon's HD Pro cameras were selected for their ability to cover long stretches between sites with a smaller number of cameras, while allowing operators to zoom in for the highest level of detail to quickly identify and respond to security incidents. Avigilon's HD Multisensor cameras were also selected for their flexible design that allows multiple angles of up to 360 degrees to be captured, enabling a maximum level of scene coverage that minimizes blind spots.
Combined with advanced search capabilities through ACC software, such cameras help port operators efficiently monitor the day-to-day operation of the port and determine the exact location of people and vehicles of interest, enabling speed, time savings and consistent evidence to collaborate with other agencies on critical investigations.
"A clear video surveillance solution, capable of withstanding adverse conditions is the key for us to protect the port against theft, and other threats or incidents of insecurity," said Axel Humberto Pérez Flores, Director of Information Technology at API Guaymas. "With Avigilon's HD cameras and ACC software, our operators can centrally monitor and verify port activity, helping to ensure we continue to offer secure transportation and storage services to our customers."
"Transportation projects, such as the Port of Guaymas, must address specific challenges in protecting personnel and the facility, while ensuring the safe and efficient handling of cargo. Avigilon's end-to-end solution installed in the port is an excellent example of how our technology can deliver scalable solutions to meet the operational and security needs of our customers."
