Colombia. Hanwha Techwin has closed an agreement with GVS to become a new distributor of the Korean brand in the South American country.
"We consider that GVS is a very strong player, being the first security distributor in the country," said César Vivenes, commercial director of Hanwha Techwin for the Andean Region, who recalled that this supplier is transforming by entering new business areas with great force.
GVS, according to César, in its growth strategy, and wanting to expand more strongly into the high-end markets (aimed at people who want very good quality products and who do not care how much they cost), decides to enter its portfolio a high-value brand.
"And Hanwha, being a high-value brand, which has survived and grown in tough markets such as the American one in terms of security and cybersecurity, then obviously becomes a value mark for this type of company," says the Hanwha Techwin executive.
Strategic ally
Since 2012, GVS has positioned itself as the number one distributor of closed-circuit television (CCTV) security systems in Colombia. In August of last year, in the middle of the International E&S&S Security Fair in Bogotá, the general management of this company founded ten years ago and the vice presidency of Hanwha Techwin had an approach in which they exchanged views on the security market and raised possible synergies with the potentialities of each of the companies.
From there began a conversation with several stages. One of them was the presentation of a business plan by GVS on the Hanwha Techwin brand. This plan was analyzed and studied by several areas of the Korean company, which finally considered the solidity of it, its meaning and benefit for the brand itself.
After that, some agreements were reached on the presence of a significant local inventory to have immediate availability in the delivery of the products, as well as the investment in personnel specialized in consultative sales and product managers to boost the Hanwha brand.
"For us it is an important bet, because in some way we are looking to strengthen the market and the security strategy that was executed for years, and we consider that GVS can be one of the great allies for 2019," says César Vivenes, who participated in the Road Show 2018, an event organized by GVS Colombia to discuss, among others, the business opportunities of the electronic security market. This was carried out at the end of November last year, just when a definitive joint work agreement was reached between both companies.
