Brazil. The state of Paraíba in Brazil will have one of the most advanced communications systems in the world with motorola technology from Motorola Solutions.
The state government is incorporating new features into its digital radio communications system, including real-time multimedia streaming, and maps to plan actions.
These additions will optimize the level of interoperability between the mobile phone network, the existing TETRA digital radio system and the advanced user management system. The state will also implement new radio bases in order to expand the coverage area
Paraíba's Secretary of Defense and Social Security signed a contract with Motorola Solutions (NYSE: MSI) for the expansion of the digital radio communications network and the addition of advanced features, including tactical LTE (4G) integrated into the TETRA network, which will enable all public safety agencies in the state to send and receive multimedia content.
Among the new equipment that is planned to be integrated include 180 LEX Series handheld devices that put the command and control center in the hands of field agents and allow those responsible for the commands to know perfectly what is happening, with the possibility of transmitting video in real time and exchanging tactical information on maps. In addition, 100 COMPACT and elegant ST7000 DIMETRA portable radios will be used for discreet operations.
The new devices will now also feature WAVE™, Motorola Solutions' broadband PTT solution that allows smartphone users to communicate securely with security personnel radios at the push of a button. Accessories will also be included in order to optimize the efficiency of both the devices and those who use them.
These new resources, which will be integrated into the digital TETRA network implemented last year and which covers practically the entire state, will put Paraíba's critical communications system at the same level as the most modern systems in the world.
The contract has just been signed by the Governor of the State of Paraíba, Ricardo Coutinho; the Secretary of Defense and Social Security of the state, Claudio Lima, and Elton Borgonovo, of Motorola Solutions.

We already have a digital communications system that allows different agencies to interact safely and reliably through a TETRA solution provided by Motorola Solutions. Now, with this platform, what we seek is to expand our capabilities by incorporating applications, such as the tactical LTE system, that help us optimize our efficiency when it comes to managing our public security forces," said Cláudio Lima, Secretary of Defense and Social Security of the State of Paraíba.
Main aspects of the digital radio system integrated into the LTE network for public safety:
- Ability to send videos, photos, maps, suspect IDs and other multimedia features
- Integration of the TETRA digital radio network with the tactical LTE system and commercial cellular networks, enabling the establishment of communications from anywhere in the world via authorized devices
- Tactical LTE for the opening of a "bubble" of 4G network, integrated into the radio network and dedicated to the public force
- Thousands of radios, including portable, mobile and fixed, with expansion capacity due to user demand. LEX Series fixed handheld LTE devices and ST7000 DIMETRA portable radios purchased for discrete operations
- Encrypted communication to prevent unauthorized persons from eavesdropping on law enforcement radio communications or stealing multimedia information
- A system with several repeater sites for a clear signal of high availability for all security forces: army, civil defense, firefighters, penitentiary system and traffic (Detran)
- Dispatch consoles for operations management and installation of 6 new MTS1 model radio bases of rapid implementation for tactical operations and coverage of specific areas
- Digital technology that allows you to run different applications, such as GPS, and determine exactly the location of each device, whether handheld or installed in a vehicle.
