Colombia. Milestone Systems will participate in the E+S+S security fair to be held from August 22 to 24 at the Corferias venue in the city of Bogotá. The company will arrive in the coffee country with the aim of showing the region's electronic security community the details of its latest releases, among which is the XProtect R2 2018, the second update of its VMS this year.
Headed by its engineering manager, Edgardo López, Milestone's team of experts will be present at the booth of its technology partners Axis Communications (# 116) and Anixter (# 709 A), from where it seeks to educate industry professionals about the brand's products and their respective updates.
The XProtect 2018 R2
Among the operational improvements of the new version of Milestone's VMS is support for the smart map feature that allows operators to gain better recognition of the operating environment.
On the other hand, the XProtect 2018 R2 features hardware acceleration, which means that system performance can be improved just by adding a compatible graphics card, which takes care of the heavy processing work involved in the task of decoding the video, allowing the system to process other demanding tasks, such as video analysis that facilitates lower-cost solutions, as less infrastructure hardware is required to meet customer needs.
In the previous version of XProtect 2018, Milestone introduced, for the first time on the market, the use of several NVIDIA graphics cards, in addition to acceleration through the Intel graphics processing unit, to achieve extremely high performance in the XProtect Smart Client 2018 and the XProtect Smart Wall.
The intelligent corporate video systems of tomorrow will have to process huge amounts of data coming not only from cameras, but also from all kinds of sensors in an IoT environment. The only way to process all that data is to use the huge processing power of the CPU. This means that investing today in a system with the possibility of incorporating hardware acceleration can be the ideal way to prepare for a future where intelligent systems will prevail.
The pretension of the cities
It is worth saying that video surveillance systems are a popular topic these days in Colombia, since various economic sectors have begun to invest in these resources to prevent different threats faced by the different cities of the country; among these verticals, it is worth mentioning that of commerce, where some shopping centers lead a program to link their camera monitoring systems with police headquarters. To the above are added the initiatives that the capital administrations have had to meet the objective of having installed and operating 4,000 cameras in the city by the end of the year.
In E+S+S the most important protection and security solutions in the region will be exposed, which require meeting increasingly robust needs given the current panorama of cities. In this context, Milestone Systems solutions meet all the challenges for the video management of these projects framed both for citizen video surveillance and in corporate environments.
