OT-Morpho
OT-Morpho has just announced that chinese bank CMBC's new Visa Signature credit card is the first to incorporate MOTION CODE in China, a technology developed by OT-Morpho to provide greater security to online transactions and significantly reduce the risk of online fraud.
Traditional payment cards feature a fixed cryptogram that is used to pay online, printed on the back of the card next to the space intended for the signature. This data, as well as the card number (PAN) and expiration date, can be stolen and used to pay online fraudulently.
With MOTION CODE, the security code becomes dynamic: the three digits appear permanently on a mini-screen integrated into the card, but change automatically every hour, without the need for the cardholder to do anything.
In this way, any stolen data quickly becomes unusable on the Internet by a scammer. This genuine technological achievement has been made a reality thanks to OT-Morpho's expertise in "powered cards", which are high-tech payment cards containing additional electronic components, mini-screens, LEDs or even fingerprint sensors, powered by ultra-thin batteries, allowing them to maintain the same 0.8mm thickness and flexibility of a traditional payment card.
