The last two years have been convulsed for most Latin American countries, with situations that have brought direct consequences to the electronic security industry, affecting the sustained growth it brought years ago.
The dollar has been one of the main factors. The devaluation of the region's currencies against the dollar caused many projects to be halted and postponed due to the increased cost of the required products and systems that must be imported.
The political issue has also directly influenced the electronic security industry. Changes of government, corruption scandals and dismissals of presidents have paralyzed public investments and even affected the economy. And the government sector is one of the strong customers of our industry.
For many manufacturers, distributors and integrators with whom we have had the opportunity to talk, in 2017 the electronic security industry should take off again, but the arrival of Donald Trump to the presidency of the United States and his speech towards Mexico, made the region fear reign before investment.
But the picture is beginning to change. The economy has already assumed that the high dollar against regional currencies will continue for a few more years and companies require the solutions they had postponed and have adjusted their budgets.
The expectation for the second half of 2017 is high. Now is the time for the entire industry, read, manufacturers, distributors and integrators, to do their best to reach customers with service, innovation, high quality and added value, which allows to execute the pending projects and continue growing.
