International. Winsted Corporation, a global leader in control room console solutions, announced that it has received Greenguard certification in the Gold category.
Greenguard Environmental Institute, which is a division of Underwriters Laboratory, evaluates manufacturing processes for products, materials, and finished products. Finished products such as control room consoles, technical furniture, sideboards, room tables, shelves and others must be within the indoor air quality standards set for chemical and low particulate emissions.
Greenguard Gold Certification offers the strictest certification criteria, considers safety factors for sensitive people, such as children and the elderly, and ensures that a product is acceptable for use in settings such as schools and health centers. Both High Performance Schools Collaboration (CHPS) and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Reference (LEED) are factors for Greenguard Gold Certification.
Winsted achieves Greenguard Certification by submitting several product lines to UL for accurate testing procedures. Some of the components tested include: substrate materials, PVA glues, plastic laminates, powder-coated enamel finishes on aluminum, and steel components. Winsted's international manufacturing practices and finished products meet the organization's comprehensive standards for low volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions, which helps everyone breathe a little easier.
The consoles and workstations that Winsted with Greenguard Certificate are: Atlas, Envision, E-Soc, FreeForm, Horizon, Impulse, Matrix, M-View, Prestige (Ascend, Insight, Sight-line and Slat-Wall), Pro-Series Equipment Racks, Reception Desks and Talon2.
This certification allows manufacturers the opportunity to improve indoor air quality with product recognition and helps consumers make informed choices when considering environmental health and safety.
