Latin America. As the modern world becomes more connected to cyberspace, national critical systems and infrastructure are also becoming more and more linked to the Internet. These advances allow for an increase in new technologies, greater efficiency and capacity, but also imply a greater vulnerability to hacking and cyberattacks.
During the last few years, there have been real cyberattacks on critical infrastructure, that is, energy, water, gas, fuel companies, etc., in countries such as Turkey, Germany, the United States, Iran, among others.
However, the policy guidelines for cybersecurity and cyber defense have improved, being stricter and aimed at developing a national strategy that counteracts the increase in computer threats that can significantly affect the country. As a result of this, the National Operation Council (CNO), of the electricity sector, established the mandatory cybersecurity guide for all generating agents, transmitters and distributors of the National Interconnected System (SIN).
All actors in the electricity sector must have a person responsible for directing and managing the implementation of the cybersecurity guide. A security and compliance officer who demonstrates a level of assertive management from IT.
The A3SEC group has created a model that will benefit companies in the electricity sector. "Our cybersecurity model for companies in the electricity sector is highly efficient and effective, since we involve state-of-the-art technological platforms for the monitoring and management of critical assets, which support the work of defining and implementing cybersecurity policies and procedures that are currently required," says David Rojas, LATAM consultant at A3SEC.
Thanks to their experience, they have developed a model that allows companies in the electricity sector to address multiple safety standards and good practices. Likewise, it allows to obtain a complete visibility of everything that happens in the critical assets of the client, as well as to predict when an anomalous event may occur and put the organization at risk.
