Latin America. The concept of separating the lens from the ip camera body, created by Axis in 2013, allows discreet monitoring in small shops and ATMs.
Axis Communications, leader in the network video sector, presents the second generation of modular cameras, that is, with the lens separated from the body. The first generation came to the video surveillance market three years ago, introducing a new category of IP cameras.
AXIS P1244, the first model of the new generation, costs 40 percent less than the first three models in the series, launched in 2013 – a savings of about $200. More versatile and with sharp images in varied lighting conditions, the modular camera features the new Zipstream image compression technology, which reduces the need for bandwidth and storage by at least 50 percent.
The modular concept divides the camera into two parts: at one end are the lens and the image sensor; at the other end, there is the main unit that houses the processor and the network and power connections. Connecting both parts, there is an 8-meter cable. The concept makes it possible to install sensors discreetly, while the main unit can be left elsewhere.
AXIS P1244 sensor has a horizontal field of view of 102° and can be installed in places with very little space, on walls or ceiling. In the new generation of the P12 series, the main unit is three times smaller than the previous model.
AXIS P1244 comes with the new generation of Axis processors, which allows the simultaneous execution of up to 20 applications, occupying a maximum space of 8 Mbytes. This smart camera feature allows the same equipment to perform the processing of multiple video analysis, such as motion detection.
The product offers videos with HDTV resolution, Power over Ethernet (PoE) power for easy installation, and micro SD card slot for local storage.
The equipment is compatible with the largest VMS software base on the market, in addition to Axis Camera Station and Axis Camera Campanion software. The ONVIF specification, which ensures interoperability between IP-based physical security products, enables integration with other systems.
