Colombia. It was recently confirmed by the authorities of Medellín that the photodetection and monitoring cameras that the Ministry of Mobility has installed in the city will also be used by the authorities for surveillance and security control.
This was confirmed to local media Juan Esteban Martínez, Secretary of Mobility, who explained that "it is a unification of tools between both dependencies, in order for citizens to benefit from technologies."
The objective of this measure is that the systems of the Mobility control center and the emergency line 123 of the Ministry of Security are integrated, so that they can provide information in real time so that the authorities - traffic agents or Police - can react in time.
Currently from the mobility control center you can monitor the security cameras, but adjustments are still needed so that access is bidirectional.
The project is in the design and planning stage, so there are still no details of what the integration will be like. However, the Secretariat has 40 photodetection cameras that rotate through 70 points and another 80 monitoring cameras that are used to generate alerts when there are incidents on the road.
