Colombia. At least 16 surveillance cameras and 300 warning bugles aim to strengthen citizen security in different neighborhoods of the metropolitan area of Bucaramanga. They were already delivered to the spokesmen of the Community Action Boards.
The allocation of teams was made by the governor of Santander, Richard Aguilar Villa, after a ceremony held at the Yellow Palace.
According to the Sectional President, "the sectors selected for these contributions were chosen according to a report, presented by the Police, which prioritized the most sensitive areas and where the greatest complaints are filed by citizens."
It is worth remembering that the Police identified the most critical points in terms of insecurity in the metropolitan area. These are the blocks where criminal acts are committed most often, disturbing public order and affecting the tranquility of neighborhoods.
According to the Commander of the Metropolitan Police of Bucaramanga, Mebuc, Brigadier General Nelson Ramírez Suárez, in total there are 53 'hot spots'.
He clarified that, among them, there are 33 critical areas, due to their wide concentration of crimes such as: thefts from people and residences, homicides, personal injuries and illegal drug trafficking.
Thus, security cameras will be installed in Bucaramanga in the following neighborhoods: Villa Helena, San Alonso, Villa Rosa, San Martín, San Pío, Balconcitos, La Floresta, Jardines de Coaviconsa and Pan de Azúcar; as well as in the parks Romero, Antonia Santos, Girardot, La Concordia and La Joya; and the surroundings of Neomundo and La Libertad school.
Meanwhile, the warning bugles will be distributed as follows: 120, in Bucaramanga; 110, in Girón; 50, in Floridablanca; and the remaining 20 in Piedecuesta.
During the delivery of equipment, the Governor announced that the bidding process for another security project in which the Administration will invest $19 billion (US$6.6 million) has begun.
"Next October we will begin the installation of 1,200 security cameras in the metropolitan area of Bucaramanga and even in Barrancabermeja," he said.
