Mexico. The federal government is equipping surveillance cameras to 23 full-time schools to inhibit muggings in full-time elementary schools.
This was reported by Pablo Arguello, Head of the Department of Regional Education Services in Tampico who added that there are 8 cameras for each of the 23 campuses of the total of 30 that are in that program.
"On the part of the federal government we are installing in 23 full-time schools of those that have the highest incidence of robberies such as Adolfo López Mateos and Venustiano Carranza, there are eight cameras in each one and they already decide in which places they are located."
On the part of the SET, Pablo Arguello said that they have not made a request to the competent authorities to install surveillance cameras because he pointed out that a large number already have them inside.
He stressed that the actions for what makes the SET are the usual ones "we look for the way that they are protected, each school depending on the amount of personnel that is counted is how they operate, if they have enough surveillance personnel the guard roles are made so that they are aware of the protection of all the goods they have, if they do not have enough staff, a strategy is made with parents and close neighbors so that they are on the lookout in case they see something strange."
The municipality has also been supporting this area for a long time, especially those with the highest incidence of theft. "In each holiday period they support us with surveillance personnel, there are about 20 or 25 schools and the surveillance is 24 hours a day."
