Colombia. The Ministry of the Interior will deliver to the Urban Security Company (ESU) 100 intelligent security cameras to include them throughout the integrated surveillance system of Medellín, this in order to combat extortion, microtrafficking and theft from people.
According to the Minister, Juan Fernando Cristo, there is currently a tender for the revolving fund of the National Police to provide the capital of Antioquia with smart cameras to install them in places such as the stadium and the Metro, Metroplús and Metrocable stations.
Regarding the location of the cameras, Mayor Aníbal Gaviria explained that the sectors and areas are defined by an analysis of the ESU and the Police to have the cameras in strategic places, either because there are difficulties in terms of crime or to increase actions against criminal gangs.
In addition, this technology seeks to increase prosecution through the evidence that can deliver video captures and photos from smart cameras.
