Latin America. HID Global announced that its Identification Technologies division is shipping the IN Tag™ 300 8KB RFID transponder, ideal for memory-intensive applications.
The IN Tag™ 300 8KB transponder incorporates Fujitsu Semiconductor's ferroelectric random access memory (FRAM) technology. This technology accelerates the speed of data access at a rate close to the maximum high frequency (HF); withstands billions of read and write cycles; and is resistant to radiation range up to 50 KGray, thanks to which it survives, for example, medical sterilization processes.
"The new IN Tag 300 8KB offers the ultimate in speed and memory capacity to operate under the ISO/IEC 15693 protocol," said Richard Aufreiter, Director of Product Management, Identification Technologies, HID Global. "This feature, together with its high level of radiation resistance, make the label an ideal choice for demanding applications in the nuclear sector, automation or medical services."
Thanks to FRAM technology (which enables read cycles up to 33,000 times faster than conventional EEPROM memories), the latest IN Tag transponder supports much faster access than tags with EEPROM memory. This technology also enables approximately 1,000,000 times more read cycles than EEPROM technology, making it ideal for applications with high-speed moving targets and frequent read access, such as sensors or data logs.
The in Tag's proven strength covers protect the embedded chips from exposure to high temperatures and high-pressure conditions, while the FRAM configuration protects the contents from radiation levels that, with other types of chips, would erase the stored content.
"We are pleased that HID Global is integrating our high-memory capacity FRAM HF chip into the IN Tag 300 8KB transponder," said Jozsef Miho, product marketing manager, Fujitsu Semiconductor Europe. "The new 8KB chip is ideal for memory-intensive applications and we are pleased to see that HID Global is one of the first vendors producing industrial-grade RFID tags to employ our chip."
The IN Tag 300 8KB transponder is ideal for labeling medical supplies and equipment that are sterilized with autoclave, gamma rays and X-ray irradiation. The resistance to high temperatures and pressures also makes the label ideal for industrial applications in demanding environments such as manufacturing lines.
