Colombia. The municipalities of Flordiablanca and Bucaramanga will add security cameras to their systems to control citizen insecurity.
According to the Secretary of Development and Mayor (e) of Floridablanca, Juan Ángel Triana Hernández, the first phase of this security strategy is already being executed, which consists of installing 80 cameras in the streets.
"We are already installing the poles where the respective cameras will be," said Triana Hernández, while maintaining that it is expected that by the end of August this system will already come into operation.
The monitoring center, which is under construction, will be at the Floridablanca Police Station, the official said.
The investment for the new security devices was more than four billion pesos (US$2.1 million), according to Triana Hernández.
Meanwhile, Bucaramanga will install 40 new security cameras. These equipment, which will be used by the Police and the entities in charge of the security of the city, are part of the Integral Security Plan of Bucaramanga, so far a figure of $ 22 billion (US $ 11.5 million) has been consummated, which is valid 2012 to 2013 of the budget that the Municipal Administration has.
Two of the new cameras will be mobile, that is, the authorities will use them at their discretion in different parts of the city to detect people who generate disturbances, disturb public order or cover capture procedures.
The Secretary of the Interior of Bucaramanga, René Garzón, said that according to national indicators, Bucaramanga is the fourth safest city in the country and "logically we must work to lower strong indicators of insecurity that the city currently has."
