International. The Muhammad Ali Center is a cultural attraction and an international educational center inspired by the ideals of its visionary founder, Muhammad Ali.
With two and a half levels for interactive exhibits and eye-catching multimedia presentations, the Muhammad Ali Center continues Ali's legacy and inspires us to explore the greatness within each of us.
The center offers its visitors a five-screen theater with introductory material, the chronology of Ali's life, historical footage from the era of civil rights and boxing, exhibition halls and recreational boxing activities. It also has the Ali Center shop, which sells retail items, and a café.
The Ali Center has more than 30 chambers to protect the museum and its three-level underground parking lot. The center's old surveillance system transmitted analog video (275m to 400m) via traditional coaxial cable to the control room.
In order to improve image resolution and flexibility, the museum decided to upgrade the old system to a new IP system. The project was not as simple as initially thought. It was necessary to adjust to the budgets and the interruptions in the dynamics of the center had to be minimal.
The Ali Center turned to Tyco Integrated Security to update the surveillance system. After carefully reviewing the site plan, Tyco Integrated Security recommended NVT's Coaxial Ethernet (EoC) solution, based on successful installations with other customers and due to:
1. That reinstalling coaxial cable eliminates the costs of removing the old cable and installing the new network cabling.
2. That there would be no interruption in the activities of the centers.
3. That Power over Ethernet signals are easily transmitted over long distances, without the need for medium-range repeaters or IDF wiring cabinets.
4. Successful installation experiences in the establishments of other Tyco customers.
By selecting NVT's coaxial via Ethernet solution, the Ali Center was able to install a state-of-the-art and cost-effective surveillance system upgrade, using the existing cable over long distances and without disturbing visitors' enjoyment of the facility.
