17/01/12. The head of the Emergency Center (C-4) of Tlalnepantla, Manuel Jiménez Ortiz said that the incidence of crime outside educational establishments in different areas of the municipality as well as in primary roads has been substantially reduced thanks to the operation of a modern closed circuit of urban television that is supported by 320 video cameras.
He said that the operation of this system works with a "deterrent and preventive" criterion of crime.
Of that total, 150 cameras are placed in an equal number of educational campuses with the intention of shielding them from bullying and any type of violence, said the head of the C-4.
The system of video surveillance cameras in educational establishments and neighborhood alarms has substantially reduced aggressive acts inside and outside school institutions as well as in the neighborhoods where they are placed, even in the eastern part of the municipality, one of the most impoverished in the municipality, said the commander.
The video surveillance system of 320 cameras has a preventive approach, but it is also part of the comprehensive actions in terms of security, to regulate "everything we must do to stop violence in schools," he emphasized.
To date, the system also includes 50 cameras, with a range and movement of 360 degrees, some placed in strategic places of road corridors, that is, in main avenues that communicate with the Federal District and neighboring municipalities.
In Tlalnepantla, also 15 police motorcycles, 18 patrols and 12 more units that are part of the vehicular team of the Directorate of Security and Traffic are equipped with cameras as part of the strategy of providing the police force with technological tools that allow a better performance in terms of security, said Jiménez Ortiz.
In the municipality of Naucalpan operates a video surveillance system of 127 cameras interconnected to the C4.
Both governments expect to acquire new cameras of sophisticated technology and integrate them into the video surveillance system.
