03/01/12. Indalecio Ríos Velázquez, municipal president of Ecatepec, announced that the local government will be given the task of placing at least one video surveillance camera in each of the 32 parks and sports recovered by this administration, which will be connected to the Command and Communication Center (C4) of the municipal police, with the aim of maintaining close surveillance and ensuring the safety of users.
The announcement was made after the mayor delivered a park and a virtual library in the Texalpa neighborhood, which adds up to 15 libraries of this type and 32 parks and sports delivered during this administration.
"We will place camcorders in the 32 spaces like this, at least one, depending on the extent of the park; we are going to try to cover with these devices the largest number of spaces throughout the municipality," said Ríos Velázquez.
He also said that it is of great importance to maintain the vigilance of the rescued and rehabilitated parks to prevent them from becoming garbage dumps or meeting point for criminals, as was the case of Texalpa, which was forgotten for 25 years, which has an area of more than 2300 m2, and that required an investment of 1.4 million pesos in its rehabilitation and the installation of two modules of children's games with capacity for 100 children to play at the same time, in addition to an outdoor gym, trotadero and gardens.
He stressed that the video cameras will complement the surveillance by the motorized group that came into operation last September with the aim of guaranteeing the integrity of citizens.
