12/12/11. The government of Guerrero issued a notice to municipal authorities, as well as citizens, to continue promoting the culture of prevention and to attend to the warnings of Civil Protection before the permanent occurrence of earthquakes in the state.
The government spokesman, Arturo Martínez Núñez, said that this Monday the Undersecretary of Civil Protection will conclude the complete report of the final evaluation of the damages caused by the 6.5-degree earthquake that occurred on Friday night, and whose epicenter was located 45 kilometers northwest of Zumpango and that caused affectations in the central and northern region of Guerrero.
At a press conference, where he announced that the Guerrero Seguro operation is closing the year on the right foot, the state official emphasized that it is necessary for both the authorities and citizens to heed the recommendations of Civil Protection.
"Then we forget the issue of drills and the evacuation route, and the shelters and these episodes remind us that we live in an area of high seismicity and that we are in a state with the highest seismicity in the whole country, and we are exposed to two hurricane systems, and the warning is to reinforce all these prevention measures, "- Added.
Martínez Núñez added that the municipality with the greatest effects on housing infrastructures, buildings, churches and historic buildings was Chilpancingo, and that the state government is contributing to the survey of affectations to determine how much total damage there was.
"The Undersecretariat of Civil Protection is about to conclude today (the report), it must make the complete report of the inventory of damaged buildings and facilities and homes; the biggest damages were as you know in the central region and in the southern part of the northern zone, that is, Apaxtla, Teloloapan, we have in Chilpancingo," he said.
Regarding the Guerrero Seguro operation, it was reported that from December 5 to 11, there was a 59 percent decrease in homicides of rival gangs.
