According to the call, this technological solution will allow the IFE to debug and update the electoral roll and the nominal list. In addition, by allowing the crossing of biometric features, the system will detect identity fraud, one of the most recurrent problems in the last elections in this country.
This is one of the tenders that the institute had not carried out despite having budgeted 500 million pesos (about US$36 million). Without this tender, the Federal Electoral Institute ran the risk of running out of this technological solution that is one of the bases that provide reliability to the voter credential, because the contract of the company that carried out this procedure has already expired.
"A solution is required that provides the necessary search, updating and biometric comparison services to improve the prevention of identity fraud and optimize the activities of purging the electoral roll, thus supporting the principles of certainty, legality, impartiality, independence and objectivity," says the statement from the Federal Electoral Institute (IFE).
The company that wins the international public tender launched by the IFE, will sign a contract that will be valid until 2016, and must provide the computer equipment and office staff required to implement the project.
