03/08/2011. The Ministry of the Interior welcomed the general approval of the National Security Law by the deputies, and said that it is "urgent" to find consensus that allows a clearer framework for the armed forces to participate in matters of public security and respect for human rights.
In a short press conference, the Undersecretary of Legislative Liaison of the Segob, Rubén Fernández, commented that although they are not in a hurry to get this law out if consensus on "two or three issues" is urgent.
"It is urgent at a given moment that we find the consensus that allows us to have a framework for national security, which expresses a better way for the armed forces, where appropriate, to participate in affecting internal security and at the same time guarantee respect for human rights in a clearer way," Said.
The official minimized the fact that the deputies reserved most of the articles of the initiative sent by the Senate, and even pointed out that this was sought by the federal government.
He added that the opinions of the various sectors on the project have already been poured enough and that all the information in that regard is on the table.
"Every day there are editorials and opinions of organizations, the position of all is put on the table, that is, we would be starting from the hypothesis, and serious is at the disposal of the Ministry of the Interior that everything is already said regarding the different observations to the minutes of the senate, we are not going to start this discussion from scratch, the points on which we need to find consensus are very clear; three, four, 20 if we scratch him, and that allows us to accelerate the dialogue process," he said.
However, he did not want to clarify what the divergent points are, although on previous occasions he has declared that these issues are the jurisdiction of the Army and the military jurisdiction.
