According to the publication, only 3% of the devices sold for internal consumption will be digital network cameras, but the increase in revenue is due to their higher price compared to analog devices. The annual growth rate of the network security cameras market is expected to be 40% between 2010 and 2014.
According to market analyst Bo Zhang, the analog camera and encoder combination still accounts for the largest share of the market in China, however, "network cameras are expected to have faster growth than encoders over the next five years. These devices are becoming increasingly important in the Chinese security industry."
More than 10 million security cameras will be installed across the Asian country this year, according to the IMS report.
