With more than 40% of the 450,000 police cars in America already having digital video surveillance installed, penetration in the U.S. market is higher than in countries like the United Kingdom, where video systems are installed in traffic cars.
IMS Research market analyst Nail Jenkins commented: "Video surveillance in the police is becoming more common because departments see the benefits this can bring. The video is used as evidence, with the use of verification techniques it can be guaranteed that it was not manipulated. It can also protect the police against any complaints they receive against them."
