Mexico. During Expo Seguridad México 2008, some fundraising activities were held for Misión 500, the initiative that brings together the security industry to help and address the needs of children and communities in crisis. On the night of Casino ALAS, the association donated 500 dollars to the initiative, also several winners of the raffle donated their prizes to Mission 500, such as Joseph Moore's iPod and the plasma TV donated by Samsung GVI won by Alex Salinas de Bolide, which was delivered to the Hovde House, where he and a group of people who support the initiative visited the abandoned and neglected children on the streets of Mexico.
Joint visits were also made between Misión 500 and World Vision Mexico to Casa Hovde and El Patio, places where donations have been made to help homeless children and children in situations of abandonment and abuse. The Hovde house provides accommodation to children who have lived on the street, who receive physical and psychological care, guidance in values and stimuli to set personal goals, as well as help in reintegration with their families and communities. For its part, El Patio is a home of passage where children come for short periods of time to find a shelter from the street. In this case, they bathe, receive medical care, play and learn professional skills.
Both Mission 500 and World Vision and Street Children share their goals and hopes for children to have good physical and mental health, gain confidence and respect for themselves, and create a better future.
