Spain. Last February, the 31 cameras that monitor Calle de la Montera and Plaza de Soledad Torres Acosta in Madrid came into operation.
The idea of protecting this area is to have greater control over the area, recover space for citizens, as well as eradicate those illegal activities and behaviors that occur in it.
The images of the video surveillance are stored for seven days, then the video is deleted. The monitoring of the cameras is carried out from the Municipal Police Unit of Calle de la Montera, with the support of the police CCTV integration center (CI-CCTV), where all the images currently available are received.
The installation of this security system gives continuity to the project launched in December 2005 in the Plaza Mayor, one of the most emblematic points of the city.
