Argentina. The new Alert Plan, which began operating in November 2007, seeks to reduce crime on Roca rail cars and platforms by installing surveillance cameras, increasing the police force and creating a complaints center.
The video surveillance system consists of 11 cameras that were installed at different train stations in the first 30 days of the Plan's action. The national government promised that in six months it will place this security device in all stations of the Roca line. Likewise, users of this transport system will be able to communicate irregularities through their cell phone by dialing *31416 and there personnel specialized in transport crimes will receive the complaint.
