Latin America. According to a study conducted by the consulting firm Frost & Sullivan, in 2006 broadband consumption in Latin America reached 12.5 million users and for this year it is expected to reach 28.5 million.
The growth of this system is due to the high offer of services by Internet providers (to attract more subscribers or maintain existing ones), which encourage the migration of switched connections to broadband and the implementation of technologies such as wimax or triple play. However, the high cost of broadband service in some Latin American countries threatens broadband growth.
