International. According to Mordor Intelligence the lithium-ion battery market will register a CAGR of around 20% during the period from 2022 to 2027. In that sense, Vertiv has expanded UPS systems with lithium-ion batteries for data center and edge infrastructure solutions.
Pete Klanian, executive vice president of sales at Vertiv North America at Vertiv, shared the reasons why his company's lithium-ion battery power backup system (UPS) portfolio has grown significantly in recent years.
First, the executive mentioned anticipating the needs of partners in the data center market at the edge of the network. "We understand that our partners need solutions that address customer challenges; are easy to specify and sort; offer fast and immediate delivery; provide a solid guarantee; provide excellent customer service; offer a competitive price; ensure support in the regional field throughout the country."
Vertiv partners have customers across industries who face similar challenges when deploying IT storage, IT equipment, and other needs at the edge, where IT support is limited.
"Vertiv has long been a market leader with our portfolio of data center infrastructure and services for systems of all sizes. Lithium-ion batteries have emerged as a natural step for deployments in mission-critical environments at the grid edge."
In that sense, the Vertiv Liebert GXT5 with lithium-ion batteries and the Vertiv™ Liebert® PSI5 UPS with lithium-ion batteries "lead a portfolio that continues to evolve and expand to meet the needs of our partners and their customers.®™ Today, we have the industry's most comprehensive portfolio of lithium-ion battery UPS power backup unit solutions."
In fact, Klanian highlighted that the brand won the CRN Product of the Year award in 2022 with the Liebert® GXT5 UPS with lithium-ion batteries. "In addition, I am pleased to share that we now have the only TAA-compliant lithium-ion battery UPS for U.S. federal customers: the Vertiv™ Liebert® PSI5 Lithium-ion Battery UPS System."
In that sense, the executive also developed other complementary reasons for the development of this specific offer by Vertiv, where there is the reduction of distances, which contains benefits of lithium-ion batteries compared to VRLA; and continued partner momentum with lithium-ion battery UPS solutions.
Finally, Klanian concluded that as more digital applications move to the edge of the grid, lithium-ion batteries are essential to meet the needs of power protection in these environments and in that sense, "the main reason we invest in our inventory: to help partners meet the needs of their customers."
