Colombia. Vías Inteligentes ITS-VIITS is a project executed by the company Seguritech Colombia and led by the National Institute of Roads (INVÍAS) that seeks to modernize and constantly monitor the main roads of this country.
The project recently received recognition from the Society of Engineers of Colombia, which joins the "Intertraffic Award Latin America" as the best Latin American project of Intelligent Transport Systems, awarded at the IV Ibero-American ITS Congress held in Mexico City.
"This new award is the result of the articulated work that we have been doing in a judicious and committed way with the National Institute of Roads, which has placed in our company all the confidence to execute this project, the most important in Colombia in this matter. We are proud to be part of the change, innovation and technological solutions offered by this initiative, which contributes to the strengthening of road safety on the roads, for the benefit of its infrastructure and all its users," said Rubén Garduño, director of Seguritech Colombia.
The project
Vías Inteligentes ITS-VIITS is recognized as one of the largest road modernization projects in Colombia with which technological solutions for monitoring, public order, traffic and infrastructure are offered to strengthen road safety on national roads. It is considered one of the largest and most challenging technological deployments in Latin America, since it involves the analysis of data captured in the field and in real time, for future decision-making associated with the improvement of transport, planning, mobility, road safety and public order.
This initiative seeks to cover 6,000 kilometers of the primary road network, with monitoring points equipped with the latest technology, which are articulated through a Control Center that receives the information generated, to react promptly to various mobility situations that may affect users and road infrastructure.
The project has the development of three subsystems. The first module allows monitoring of disturbances of public order in national corridors; the second is focused on road safety through the implementation of incident response cameras, which can detect stopped or injured vehicles; and the third module is dedicated to the monitoring of road infrastructure, with the monitoring of the most critical sites where landslides or landslides may occur. As an integral part of the project, travelers traveling on the national highways can learn what happens in the road corridors through #767.
Seguritech is a Mexican company that in august is celebrating its 27th anniversary of experience in the design, planning, implementation and operation of integral solutions in technological security systems for the public and private sectors. In Colombia, it has four years of operations, developing far-reaching projects in joint work with state, municipal and local authorities, which has allowed it to achieve an important recognition with governments and the community.
