International. Milestone announced a new update to the XProtect 2022 R1 video management software, including the Management Server Failover solution, single sign-on (SSO) in XProtect, as well as a new range of options ranging from live streaming and adaptive streaming to multiple live streaming.
XProtect Management Server Failover
XProtect Management Server Failover is a solution that protects the management server (and the SQL server when installed on the same physical server) against hardware and software failures and against human error. It ensures that operators can log into the system and access live video and video playback at all times, as well as system settings.
Its efficient design and simple configuration give users the ability to seamlessly and automatically switch to a reliable backup management server when the main one fails. It offers real-time synchronous file duplication, automatic application failover, and automatic failback after a server failure, all in one solution. XProtect Management Server Failover is available as an add-on product for XProtect Expert and XProtect Corporate version 2022 R1 or later.
Single sign-on to XProtect
With the new version of Milestone XProtect 2022 R1, users can now choose their desired identity and access management (IAM) and use their corporate credentials to log in to XProtect with single sign-on (SSO). This feature simplifies the management of usernames and passwords for both users and administrators using the Open ID Connect (OIDC) protocol.
Users no longer need to track different credential groups, while administrators can quickly assign and assign logon privileges based on authorized users in the IAM system. This means less manual work, stronger authentication, and a simpler user experience. Single sign-on is supported on the Monitoring (Smart Client) and Management Client clients on all XProtect products, version 2022 R1 or later.
Boost the value of XProtect Xpress+ and XProtect Professional+
XProtect 2022 R1 improves viewing and streaming and reduces server load. With XProtect Smart Client's multiple live stream, users can optimize viewing performance based on available bandwidth and view layouts. Operators can also define and use multiple streams from the same camera for live viewing effects. This is ideal for installations with display stations in remote locations that have different bandwidth and resolution requirements.
Thanks to XProtect's adaptive streaming, users can automatically receive lower resolution streams when a higher resolution is not needed. This reduces the load on the mobile server and allows for a smoother experience. Finally, with live streaming, users can stream live video directly to their web (Web Client) and mobile (Mobile Client) clients. With this feature, video transcoding on the mobile server is not necessary, a process that consumes many resources, which translates into a better viewing experience for users of mobile and web clients.
