Trends and innovations that 2022 has in store for the security industry

Tendencias e innovaciones que el 2022 tiene reservado para la industria de la seguridad

Latin America. With the pandemic still lurking everywhere, people have learned to adapt to the new normal. And with it has emerged a wave of new technologies. According to an IEEE study, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, cloud services, and the 5G network are just a few of the technologies that will take center stage in 2022.

Below, Dahua presents some technology trends that hope to lead the year of the Chinese tiger:

1. Accelerated adoption of AI-powered video analytics and entry-level entry-level products for all markets
By incorporating AI into different scenarios, more and more electronic devices will begin to be used. Technologies related to AI analytics, such as AI-based forensic search, business intelligence, object detection, and bandwidth, are likely to drive a large share of video surveillance innovation in 2022 and beyond.

Next year, Dahua's WizSense, a broad array of AI products and solutions that recognize humans and vehicles with high precision will release updates to its AI SSA scene self-adaptation (AI SSA), AI coding, and QuickPick capabilities. In addition, WizMind, a collection of high-end artificial intelligence solutions from Dahua that offer early warnings and real-time alerts, advanced analytics and data statistics, is also on track to upgrade its portfolio that includes wide-angle cameras, parking management, imaging and more.

According to Omdia's 2021 Video Surveillance and Analytics Database Report, the demand for recording devices, especially entry-level equipment, with built-in deep learning analytics is expected to increase. Dahua Cooper-I's XVR series, for example, is the first entry-level intelligent analog analog recorder and storage device to offer AI features like SMD Plus (intelligent motion detection) and AI coding.

Similarly, the Dahua Eureka series is also comprised of AI-powered entry-level thermal cameras. Designed for end users, it is an ideal choice for small and medium-sized perimeter intrusion detection and early fire detection in various scenarios (e.g. waste recycling sites).

2. Cloud-based video surveillance continues to grow and evolve
The demand for cloud services among organizations is expected to continue in 2022 as a result of remote work and the growing trend in digital transformation due to COVID-19. The adoption of cloud-based video surveillance solutions such as VSaaS (Video Surveillance as a Service) will also accelerate in 2022.

Due to its numerous advantages, such as cost-effectiveness, remote access to data, secure storage of data, high reliability, etc., it sees a growing popularity in the SMB sector that cannot independently build and maintain video surveillance systems.

An example of an excellent VSaaS system is Dahua's COS cloud platform, a cloud-based converging platform that allows users to manage devices on-site and enjoy a full range of services anytime, anywhere. It also provides installers with convenient solutions at their fingertips, including 24/7 remote problem diagnosis and repair, alarm operation, cloud storage service, etc.

3. 5G technology eases the way for remote work and video conferencing
5G, of course, is a key technology that benefits video conferencing and remote work for years to come. The fast network capabilities of video connections enabled by 5G broadband technology ensure real-time image exchange and zero-latency synchronization of audio and video, enabling efficient remote communication and collaboration.
A recent IDC survey indicates that, for the foreseeable future, employers around the world tend to adopt a hybrid work model that combines remote work and work on site.

Video conferencing solutions and digital tools for remote work such as Dahua DeepHub Smart Interactive Whiteboard will also be in demand next year. Dahua DeepHub is designed for efficient and collaborative work for meeting rooms and modern offices with remote participation. Features include a user-friendly interface, wireless 4K display, easy installation, touchscreen typing capability, high-performance video conferencing, and other smart features.

Undoubtedly, the 5G network will power networks with greater speed and reliability. It will enable better use of technologies such as artificial intelligence, IoT and machine learning for collaboration in multi-party conferences, and enable different innovative applications in the video conferencing industry.

4. Convergence of multiple systems through AIoT
The convergence of multidimensional sensing devices and systems across the Internet of Things (IoT) is another area that will see growth in the coming year. Artificial intelligence of things (AIoT) is a combination of artificial intelligence technologies and IoT infrastructure.

It achieves more efficient IoT operations, improves human-machine interactions, and improves data management and analysis. In other words, not only can all elements of the IoT environment operate AI individually, but they can also connect with each other and, together, perform tasks more intelligently.

In recent years, increasing security requirements for large-scale perimeter protection scenarios (e.g., airport, construction site, water area, etc.) have enabled the convergence of AI-powered video technology with thermal imaging and security radar. Dahua's perimeter protection security radar solution, for example, integrates a PTZ camera and thermal imaging with a security radar to achieve multidimensional detection, allowing users to detect and track intrusions, upload alarms, save evidence, and more.

AIoT technology will also see the increasing integration of solutions such as video surveillance, alarms, access control, fire detection with temperature, humidity, smoke, heat and air quality sensors, to name just a few, in buildings and smart homes. There will be more scene-based personalization solutions that will integrate AI video technology with radar and other IoT technologies to solve specific customer pain points.

5. Cybersecurity
Cybersecurity is a growing concern among users and will become a bigger problem with the growth of IoT networks. The biggest concerns are mobile and hybrid workforces (employees working from home or remotely), cloud and data center vulnerability, and coordinated attacks or ransomware on their networks.

Dahua has long attached great importance to information security in the field of smart IoT, considering network security and privacy protection as one of the company's top priorities. Dahua provides users with end-to-end encryption technology that covers the security of the entire data lifecycle. The company integrates security protection measures such as certificate authentication, code stream integrity verification, and code stream encryption, so that network data is encrypted and protected throughout the process of collection, transmission, storage, exchange, and use.

In addition, the Dahua Cybersecurity Center (DHCC) was also established to mitigate cybersecurity issues by providing security vulnerability reports and sharing cybersecurity knowledge with customers. It relies on its Product Security Incident Response Team (PSIRT) to receive, process and disclose any security vulnerabilities related to Dahua products and solutions.

Other technologies
• Low-light monitoring: Dahua's new generation of full-color cameras now has dual sensors, one to capture light information and the other to capture color information, making advanced image signal processing, enabling high-quality images. In addition, Dahua's three-in-one camera (TiOC) will soon release updates to its HAC products, including the elimination of red and blue light interference, voice customization, and product serialization.

• Thermal thermography: Dahua's HI20 entry-level handheld thermal imaging camera is a portable, accurate and economical thermal device suitable for preventive maintenance in places susceptible to temperature fluctuations (e.g. home, workplace). It can be used for inspection of electrical faults, equipment and machinery, building health diagnosis, etc.

• Solar energy: Dahua's integrated off-grid security solution (including artificial intelligence features) with 4G network transmission technology and solar power technology to provide an efficient monitoring system in areas without access to grid connection and electricity. Related products include the integrated solar power system and solar-powered security cameras (IPC and PTZ).

10th Anniversary of HDCVI Technology
2022 will see the tenth anniversary of HDCVI (High Definition Composite Video Interface) independently developed by Dahua, which brings the benefits of digital technology such as Full HD imaging, ease of use, AI functionality and other smart features to existing coaxial systems, without having to make a cable replacement. It's scheduled to release interesting updates next year, such as smart dual illuminators and time programming via AI-powered XVR, and more!
