Latin America. A list of cybersecurity best practices in its monitoring and understanding of the evolving threat environment has been presented by Eaton Power Quality Mexico, a provider of energy management products, systems and service solutions connected to the network.
Eaton has expressed the importance of continuous network surveillance and the need to institute cybersecurity best practices, such as timely application of operating system patches and hardware technology renewal. The need for organizations to implement and maintain security incident response and business continuity plans that can be put in place to counter the damage caused by these types of attacks has also been highlighted.
Good practices in cybersecurity
Taking into account recent cyber threat assessments, the smart grid products team, along with eaton's Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (CCoE), determined that the increasingly frequent cyberattacks are an opportunity to reiterate to customers the importance of continuing to review, apply and maintain cybersecurity best practices.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) recommends 7 main mitigation strategies, which can help prevent up to 85% of targeted cyberattacks.
