Milestone's XProtect Esterprise software (VMS) was chosen to monitor the 150 Picasso pieces that were exhibited at the Tomie Ohtake Institute.

The Tomie Ohtake Institute, located in the Pinheiros neighborhood of the city of Sao Paulo, Brazil, was inaugurated in 2001 and as a tribute to the artist who gives it its name, develops exhibitions that focus on the last 60 years of the artistic scene, or previous movements that lead to a better understanding of the period in which Tomie was performing.
In this sense, from May 22 to August 14, 2016, the exhibition "Picasso, erudite hand, wild eye" was exhibited, an exhibition by the Spanish artist Pablo Piccasso composed of more than 150 pieces belonging to the collection of the Picasso National Museum-Paris.
The Tomie Ohtake Institute defined that 24-hour monitoring of Picasso's works was necessary, since they had to guarantee the total safety of a sample of such magnitude.
"We seek to offer customized solutions according to the needs of each one, in this case, we carried out a previous consultancy of the place where the security and monitoring system was going to be installed," said the integrator.
The Tomie Ohtake Institute receives people from all over Brazil from different social strata, in 2014, for example, it received one million three hundred thousand visitors for the 210 exhibitions it held that year.
The place has 2300 m2 of exhibition areas, divided into 7 air-conditioned exhibition halls, three for large galleries, and four for exhibitions of smaller magnitude. For the exhibition of Piccaso two large rooms were used, of 300 m2 each.
According to the integrator, the objective for Picasso's exhibition was not to leave any blind spot and without monitoring, either through the supervision rounds of his team of heritage guards or with the monitoring of the cameras.
A complete solution was implemented with trained personnel and state-of-the-art technology. The guards who act in the monitoring of security systems had specific training to execute this operation, they also had a CCTV course.
On the technology side, to meet these goals, Milestone Systems' XProtect Enterprise, open platform video management software (VMS) over IP and Axis 3007pv cameras were used.
In the same way, an Alied Telesis PoE Switch and speedy Internet fiber technology were also installed. No integration with local software was necessary.

Thanks to this complete security strategy, there was no incident during the exhibition "Picasso, erudite hand, wild eye", and in short, the monitoring system ends up preventing and collaborating not only with the safety of the environment, but also of the people who are in it.
