Thanks to NVT solutions, it was possible to install a video surveillance system in gigantic polo fields in Argentina. The key element was the ability of this technology to send video and power over long distances.

In the Tortugas Country Club, a permanent headquarters to host the outstanding Polo championships, located at Ruta Panamericana, Km. 38.5, Ramal Pilar near Capital Federal (Buenos Aires), a security solution was installed to provide protection to the players and attendees of the Open Polo Championship that is played within this residential neighborhood.
Based on the need raised by the country club directives to take care of its members during the Championship, the company Axial Security proposed a comprehensive video security system throughout the event with a relevant cost, as explained by Iván Abrigo, owner of the firm.
"The areas monitored were several, from the main entrance until the vehicle is parked at the designated locations. Three (3) polo fields with fixed cameras and domes were covered, as well as the ticket office area of the event, heliport, among others, "he says.
Complete security
Previously the security of the Tortugas Country Club was composed of human surveillance and an analog ccTV system, but since the use of IP technology was added, to potentiate security and make a contingency plan to control all the people and vehicles that would enter during the match calendar, it has been possible to have greater control of the different places and obtain timely responses when required, processing the information of the cameras in real time and facilitating the work.
The feeling of security and protection of own and visitors of the Country Club is high, because, as Ivan mentions, "people see cameras throughout the property feel very safe knowing that someone is watching", also clarifies that it is the first time that something of this magnitude is done. It should be noted that this project provides security to more than a thousand people in a single day, which can be the visits that are received daily.
Great distances, great challenges
Based on the installation of surveillance cameras in the areas where they did not exist and the update of the previously installed security system, the implementation of this video surveillance solution was carried out with which it was intended to monitor the different courts and other areas of the Club.
To achieve the supervision of a social event of the magnitude of the 2012 Polo Open Championship and record everything that happened during the 45 days that it lasted, Axial Security chose NVT technology to meet the needs of customers and of course to be able to deliver a complete CCTV system.
As a technical challenge, the integrator company had to locate four (4) Full HD perimeter cameras of 2 megapixels (1920x1080), two Dahua and two Vivotek, and manage to feed these cameras from the same point, since the Polo courts have a distance of 275 meters long x 180 meters wide, so in order to fulfill their work, they used NVT technology that allowed them to place the cameras in each corner of the court and not worry about the power supply of the same, since NVT devices work with PoE 803.3af technology.
Iván Abrigo explains that for the transmission of the IP system throughout the courts, several equipment of the NV-EC1701 media converter was used, which allows the transmission of Ethernet energy over coaxial cable. For the internal control, which was carried out with analog cameras, three (3) NV-4PS13-PDV equipment were implemented, a passive receiver concentrator with four (4) channel power supply.
For this project were used 12 analog cameras of 700 TV lines, eight (8) full HD IP cameras and five (5) Full HD domes with PoE technology, analog cameras with vari focal lenses from 3 to 12mm, in the 3 megapixel cameras there were lenses from 3 to 9mm and in the domes lenses from 4.7mm to 94mm with 20X optical zoom.
Three (3) Full D1 DVRs were also implemented for analog cameras and four (4) NVRs for real-time recording at 25fps of all IP cameras and domes.
As for the monitoring of the cameras, there were two (2) LG 24" monitors for ip fixed cameras and domes, two (2) 19" DELL monitors for analog fixed cameras and domes, and two 42" central monitors connected to a video matrix that allows uploading and downloading images as the event requires. Iván comments that this project required three (3) operators, a person in charge of the monitoring room and a certified technician throughout the process.
For the installation, depending on the sectors and the application, the integrator company had to install new wiring, but in remote places, where analog technology was used, it was only necessary to remove the camera, place an NV-EC1701, as well as an IP camera, and leave everything running taking advantage of the existing cabling infrastructure.
Confidence and NVT quality
After the implementation of the security project in the Tortugas Country Club using NVT technology, Iván Abrigo assures that it left him as a teaching that it is possible, with low cost, to give quick and lasting solutions over time.
On the choice of NVT equipment, he says that "this technology was considered for knowledge of it, for costs and for having certified technicians, for its easy application with the IP system, for its simple configuration. The IP world is easier to integrate with existing systems and NVT teams work completely transparently with current systems, it's typical Plug and Play."
As a result of the implementation of NVT equipment, benefits were obtained such as lower costs, the power of the cameras and the transmission of data via IP, as well as the encryption of information in a secure way. There was also the ease of covering large distances, the interaction with other devices and the possibility of placing one more camera just by using the NV-EC1701, making some modifications to the wiring, to have it working in a matter of minutes.
