Colombia. Milestone Systems' annual Kickstarter 2019 innovation contest has among its four finalists Colombian engineer Adolfo Wilches, CEO of the company Cibersoftware Automatización.
This contest seeks to encourage the development of unique solutions for video management in any type of applications that connect with the XProtect family of VMS products.
Adolfo is competing with a solution called SIOTH (Internet of Things Smart Helmet), which functions as a wearable device to monitor a person's health.
"The head generates many control signals, and thanks to a whole electronic infrastructure that we developed in the helmet we can send all that data in real time to a monitoring center that has the Milestone XProtect Smart Client. Thus, in case of an emergency, it is possible to report directly to the operator to execute the corresponding action, "explains Adolfo, CEO of the companies Cibersoftware Automatización in Colombia and Cibersoftware in the United States.
The helmet also incorporates a camera, which is very convenient for real-time recording of critical situations. The prototype of the solution is designed to be used by motorcyclists, industrial workers, firefighters, police officers and in general by most professionals. "This solution will be very helpful for employers, as it will allow them to handle the issue of insurance more effectively and offer greater protection to their employees," he said.
Representing Latin America
Adolfo Wilches, a systems engineer graduated from the Central University (Bogotá, Colombia), with more than 19 years of professional practice, is the first Latin American finalist of the Kickstarter. "We have the conviction and confidence that we are doing things well, and that is how the recognitions are coming," Adolfo said.
The winner of the 2019 Kickstarter will receive a prize valued at more than $65,000 that includes the following:
- Cash prize of USD$10,000.
- $20,000 in development resources, including design evaluation, feedback, and Milestone Certification of the Solution.
- $35,000 in global marketing activities with Milestone Systems.
- The winner will be announced at the upcoming MIPS (EMEA: Europe, Middle East and Africa) to be held from 27 to 28 March in Copenhagen, Denmark.
