Colombia. Sophos, a company specialized in network and endpoint security, held its "See the Future" event in Colombia. The roadshow held at the Club Los Lagartos in Bogotá brought together more than 200 representatives of the most important companies in the country to present the new trends in computer security and highlights the vision of Sophos on the future of Cybersecurity that is focused on the application of new deep learning technologies and Artificial Intelligence oriented towards the digital transformation of companies.
The company explains that although Colombian companies are betting on new technologies, computer security is often not considered an integral part of business; therefore, cybercriminals take advantage of this gap to attack, causing a great impact on productivity and causing unforeseen expenses. This can affect the reputation and value of brands to their consumers.
"Cybersecurity is no longer an issue exclusive to IT departments; This has become an interest for human resources, marketing and finance. Colombia needs companies to be responsible with their customers and with their own businesses, this is not complicated, technology already exists and without a doubt Sophos offers the best tools. That is why we want to share with you our vision of security," says Oscar Chávez Arrieta, Vice President for Latin America at Sophos.
New Panorama of Computer Security
Digital transformation involves new strategies and advanced solutions with artificial intelligence to act quickly. A study by the company revealed that 54% of companies attacked by ransomware have been attacked more than once, and 77% had an antivirus installed. That is why it is essential that the Colombian market renews its strategies applied to computer security and puts into practice the new trends that already exist in the field.
"It requires intelligent technologies, leaving obsolete systems aside and directing security towards solutions that can detect behaviors through deep learning. Today an antimalware based on signatures, heuristics or even reputation is not enough. At Sophos we already have solutions that use Deep Learning as the main tool against cybercrime. Sophos Intercept X has been recognized for its high effectiveness against Advanced Persisten Threats (APT) and we have it available to our partners in Colombia; this is one of the main components of our vision for the future," says Leonardo Granda, Sr. Sales Engineer Latam at Sophos.
Likewise, the capabilities of Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR) were presented with specific solutions for companies in the country, especially for those with limited IT security resources.
Sophos' next-generation solution, the Sophos XG Firewall, now includes lateral motion protection to prevent targeted cyber attacks, manuals, and exploits from further infiltrating a compromised network. This system allows you to automatically interact with Sophos endpoint products and integrates with Intercept X Advanced with Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), to provide this new layer of protection.
Sophos' bet for Colombia
Sophos has defined the direction it will take in Latin America in the coming years. It will be based on 3 pillars: demystify the adoption of Cloud Security to improve the conditions of information protection; innovation through Deep Learning, which is the most effective way to respond to new threats; and Security Service Provider, which will bring a paradigm shift regarding the relationship of channels with the brand, making them independent so that they can provide security as a service to end customers.
"See the Future Tour is one of the first steps to expose these new trends to the Colombian market. Our goal is that the entire region, and especially Colombia, become aware that although the resources they applied to computer security were effective at the time, it is time to evolve and look to the future. Colombia is one of the most emerging countries in computer security in the region, so it is necessary to promote the digital revolution and the development of new business-oriented computer security trends; and at Sophos we have the necessary tools to face these new challenges," says Oscar Chávez Arieta, SOPHOS VP for Latin America.
Sophos' vision aims to promote the inclusion of Synchronized Security as a pillar of security for the country and as pioneers in this system have taken on the challenge of driving the development of a portfolio of innovative solutions that include endpoint, network, encryption, web, email and mobile.
