Latin America. HID Global announced the acquisition of Crossmatch, a company in biometric identification management and secure authentication solutions owned by Francisco Partners. Crossmatch's product portfolio includes hardware and software for biometric identification management that complement HID's broad offering of trusted identification products and services, making HID Global one of the world's leading providers of biometric fingerprint technologies.
"The acquisition of Crossmatch further strengthens HID Global's ability to deliver innovative biometric identification solutions to hundreds of millions of users worldwide," said Stefan Widing, President and CEO of HID Global. "Incorporating Crossmatch into our company will strengthen HID's leadership in the trusted ID market and enable us to deliver on the promise of delivering biometric tools in identification applications that are essential to the functioning of companies and institutions."
Crossmatch, created in 1996 and headquartered in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, employs more than 270 professionals across a global network of development centers and strategic sales offices. With this acquisition, HID Global gains leading biometric identification management solutions in the government, defense and commercial sectors, as well as a secure multi-factor authentication software solution.
Crossmatch's track record in the area of biometrics in the public sector increases HID's reach in the immigration and border control markets, law enforcement agencies, as well as in the military and defense markets, with products and solutions that allow, among other functions, the registration of detainees, rapid mobile identification, background checks, processing of security clearances, access to military bases, counter-terrorism and mobile intelligence gathering, visa processing and the provision of citizen services.
Crossmatch's business biometrics offering expands HID's portfolio to include a wide range of single-finger readers, modules, sensors and software development kits (SDKs) for different vertical markets, including retail, financial, healthcare and OEM. This is a global business that supports a large volume of integrated partners. Crossmatch is also a leading provider of single-fingerprint sensors for point-of-sale (POS) terminal manufacturers and is integrated with leading POS software applications.
With this operation HID also obtains an exceptional secure authentication solution, DigitalPersona, which goes beyond the multidimensional approach that is usual in computer security. DigitalPersona incorporates a series of factors depending on the levels of risk, among others, behavioral biometrics, to ensure secure and hassle-free access to Windows, cloud applications, web, mobile and other traditional applications.
"I am very pleased that Crossmatch is joining the HID family. Combating today's sophisticated security threats requires innovative and comprehensive identification management solutions that incorporate both biometric and non-biometric components. Our market-leading biometric identification management solutions and our unique combined authentication solution are a perfect complement to HID's already robust offering. This will allow us to offer our customers around the world an even wider range of reliable identification solutions, and our employees greater opportunities for professional growth," said Richard Agostinelli, CEO of Crossmatch.
