Hanwha–Milestone Alliance Generates Numerous Technology Solutions

Latin America. Hanwha Techwin and Milestone Systems, a renowned provider of open platform IP video management software (VMS), continue to strengthen their alliance that dates back several years of working together. 

Such collaboration has led to more than 300 Hanwha Techwin devices currently receiving support from Milestone. Among these products is one of Hanwha's latest cameras, the XNV6080R model. This two-megapixel vandal-proof IR network dome, which features line crossing, facial, motion, as well as audio detection, is supported by embedded analysis by the Danish software developer.

For Edgardo López, Engineering Manager for Latin America at Milestone, this type of functionality is very important in the market. It highlights the ability to receive the metadata of this camera and have a much more complex solution than it would be to have in some cases only audio and video, which in turn provides a better manipulation of bandwidths, instead of having to analyze it at the server level.

It also highlights the Edge Recording application. This allows that, if there is a disconnection, the camera continues recording through an SD memory card, and when the connection is recovered the recorded video section can be obtained.

Mutual effort
Support for these types of technologies is provided by a few companies, and Hanwha is one of them. In turn, when Milestone requires devices to test in its laboratory in Oregon (United States), the South Korean company is the first to offer its product.

"It's definitely something that keeps us very close to each other at the business level and allows us to develop some functionality based on what they have available in the cameras," says López, who reaffirms that "it is a mutual effort, not unilateral," to deliver a better product to the end user.

The Milestone executive emphasizes that in the field of video-security, and all the devices that come off there, there are companies that were in a very high position and have lost ground, while others on the contrary have gained strength in recent years. The latter, in his opinion, is the case of Hanwha, which since 2014 is one of the eight partners that occupy the elite status, the highest granted by the company Milestone to any type of partner.

"Definitely the prospect of continuing to work much more with Hanwha is there; the functionality of their cameras is constantly increasing, they have a technologically very advanced product with a high level of quality, "says Edgardo, who highlights that at present there are several projects that Milestone shares with Hanwha in Latin America, outside of technological events that they attend together, in addition to meetings with common clients.

In this way, the partner that wants to partner with Milestone, and reach levels such as those obtained by Hanwha, requires, in the opinion of Edgardo López, to demonstrate a series of initiatives. Among them, a very large interest must be identified on the part of that company to improve its product, in addition to having a number of substantial projects with Milestone that benefit both companies; this is what happens with this European-Asian society of global projection.
