International. ONVIF, the global standardization initiative for IP-based physical security products, has surpassed 10,000 compatible products that meet its global interoperability standards, further expanding the organization's offering and relevance in the IP-based physical security market.
This level of compatible products marks yet another milestone for ONVIF as it celebrates its 10th anniversary as a standards organization by providing interoperability specifications for IP-based physical security products. The Profiles that ONVIF offers address video surveillance and access control functions and are increasingly applicable to security and connectivity environments, such as Safe Cities initiatives, Internet of Things (IoT) applications and smart building automation.
"With more than 10,000 compatible products in its 10th anniversary, ONVIF's market acceptance has grown in a way that no one could have anticipated," said ONVIF Steering Committee Chairman Per Björkdahl. "This issue represents not only the success of ONVIF but also the way in which our member companies, many of which are competitors, have collaborated to provide solutions that are relevant and necessary in the market. This is a strong testament to the importance of standards in our rapidly evolving market."
Over the past two years, ONVIF has continued to see strong engagement from its member base representing the majority of manufacturers in the industry, along with a dramatic increase in new compatible products. The numbers reflect the growing demand for open source standards in the market, and ONVIF will continue to provide the framework for more compatible products that enable interoperability.
ONVIF-compliant products are manufactured only by ONVIF member companies and must support at least one ONVIF profile. Products must be registered in the list of onVIF compatible products to be considered compatible. The Compatible Products page on the ONVIF website, onvif.org, is the only authorized list of ONVIF-compatible products.
Founded in 2008, ONVIF is a leading and widely recognized industry forum that drives interoperability of IP-based physical security products. The organization has a global membership base comprised of established camera companies, video management systems and access control, and more than 10,000 products compatible with their profiles. With profile S for video streaming; Profile G for registration and storage; Profile C for physical access control; Profile Q for enhanced functionality; Profile A for greater access to control configurations and the candidate version of the new Profile T for advanced streaming, ONVIF continues to work with its members to expand the number of IP interoperability solutions that ONVIF-compatible products can provide.
