Latin America. Seeking to work closely with the security industry to address the needs of children and communities in crisis, Mission 500 announced the date of its third service trip to Ponce, Puerto Rico.
The devastation caused by Hurricane Maria has left thousands of residents without electricity and basic supplies of clean water and food. This year's trip is scheduled for October 31 to November 4, 2018, where volunteers will work with local partners to help families in need.
"We are excited about the success of the Service Trip and how it brings together the growing community of security industry professionals who care about helping others," said Jeff Eichenlaub, Director of Strategic Alliances, Mission 500. "More importantly, together we are working to help families whose lives have changed due to the drastic impact of Hurricane Maria that devastated the island of Puerto Rico last year."
This year's goal is to raise $10,000 to provide two families with home renovations.
The cost of the five-day/four-night trip is US$450 and volunteers will be provided with accommodation, transportation, project supplies and meals. The registration deadline is August 1, 2018 with a maximum of 24 attendees.
We urge companies in the industry to get involved in the event and consider sending a small team to help with this important rebuilding effort.
