Mexico. Akamai Technologies introduces solutions to protect enterprises from the following threatening landscape:
- 98% of companies were affected by attacks targeting Web applications in the last year globally
- 85% of companies have suffered phishing attacks
- Almost 50% of Web browsing is made up of bots, many of which are harmful
- 390,000 new malware threats are recorded every day
- Credential abuse and theft on the rise
- DDoS attacks are becoming more sophisticated and innovative
- The costs caused by security flaws are increasing. Data breaches alone are projected to cost $2.1 trillion in 2019.
Not surprisingly, more than 6,000 of the world's largest online properties rely on Akamai to keep websites, data centers, applications, and data secure. Gartner named Akamai a leader in the 2017 Magic Quadrant for the Web Application Firewalls (WAF) category, as Akamai believes a WAF is an essential element in defending against emerging Web security threats. The more companies rely on Web applications, the greater the threat posed to productivity and security by application-level attacks. According to Gartner, cloud-based WAFs are becoming increasingly popular and will protect 50% of web applications by 2020, far surpassing standalone WAF hardware deployments.
Akamai presented in Mexico its solutions to protect Mexican companies from the four factors from which thousands of known cyberattacks emanate: cybercrime, hacktivism, cyberespionage and cyberterrorism.
The average cost of a cyberattack is $1.5 million dollars in Mexico, and the global average, the cost was $2.3 million dollars, during 2016, that is, 87% of national firms are attacked, 13% more than worldwide, according to the consultancy Pricewaterhouse Coopers.
