By 2022, the global network video surveillance market will reach US$75.6 billion

Latin America. Axis Communications, Belden and NVT Phybridge highlight the importance of training, knowledge of new technologies and the creation of specific planning based on the highest quality standards in favor of security and the management of scalable and reliable solutions that ensure profitability for industries across the country.

According to an IHS study, by 2022 the global network video surveillance market will reach a value of USD $75.6 billion. As IP surveillance continues to grow, service providers are facing a growing number of competitors, who often enter the market with low costs on their products. But, beyond being the best supplier and positioning integral products or solutions, there is no substitute for certifications and training focused on new IP technologies.

"One of the most confusing aspects of becoming an expert in video surveillance or IP technologies is knowing what licenses, certifications and trainings are necessary, or even required by industries today. In many cases it is thought that only training is required for integrators to install IP cameras, cabling or make use of certain infrastructure, but the needs vary according to each industry, "says Francisco Rodríguez, Manager of Professional Services at Axis Communications.

Proper training undoubtedly improves the credentials and credibility of distribution channels, suppliers, integrators, end users and staff from different types of industries. Encouraging users to learn about the new technologies that arise in the market, to later train in their use and implementation has become a prevailing need today. This results in proper management and execution of processes that improve the profitability and productivity of businesses.

When it comes to certifications, there are two main categories: industry certifications and manufacturer certifications. "Manufacturer certifications are an excellent complement to industry certifications, and together they form a strong educational foundation," says Rodriguez. However, he is quick to point out that not all vendor certification or training programs are created equal. Special care should be taken with unsubstantiated certifications, which are awarded for simply completing a course or completing a generic test.

Axis demonstrates its constant  interest in supporting the growth and improvement in the training of its customers. The company has had successful experiences in partnership with Belden, a leading provider of end-to-end structured cabling and fiber optic solutions; and NVT Phybridge, a company specialized in Ethernet data transmission and long-distance power.

A technological paradigm shift needed for the future

The migration of industries towards new technologies presents great challenges and security approaches. In order to protect businesses from multiple threats, have control and different support roles, technology with a robust, resilient and proven architecture is required.

Víctor Calderón, Sales Manager of NVT Phybridge mentions: "Throughout the country, there is an opportunity to migrate to new technologies by industries, however, the limitation is often the economic factor and also the issue of poor advice by the entities that accompany end users in the implementation of new solutions. Today, the possibility of migration to video surveillance systems or data transmission systems is possible, and precisely our equipment allows us to make that transition in a very simple way. However, the lack of knowledge, advice, and training of users focused on new technologies is a barrier that we still have to overcome, which leaves us with a very sufficient area of opportunity that has not been fully exploited."

Migrating to the advanced capabilities of an IP-based surveillance and security solution is the best step in protecting people, customers, and industries. Proper planning is critical to avoid unnecessary expenses, risks, and disruptions. Information is the main value that any industry has, both to improve the quality of its processes and to optimize its proper functioning. Hence, it is essential that these technologies are controlled and protected. However, something more is needed. Treat and take advantage of these technologies for the benefit of users and turn them into a competitive variant that translates into the development of new ways to anticipate any problem.

Comprehensive, scalable, reliable and high-performance solutions

With high-performance network analysis, design, integration, installation, transmission and maintenance services, unique high-performance equipment and infrastructure, which not only improves industries but also helps future-proof them, Axis Communications, Belden and NVT Phybridge provide customized solutions that fit the needs of each user. To meet today's demanding requirements, industries must use their infrastructure more optimally and reliably than ever before.

With a strong alliance in the market, these leading companies drive the development of industries in the country through:

  • Use of existing infrastructures and easy migration to IP technologies
  • Updating applications in pre-built environments
  • Network analysis, design and installation of high-performance solutions
  • Minimal outages of existing systems
  • Implementation of new LAN / WAN networks improving the transmission of data and information
  • Testing, monitoring and constant maintenance of equipment, wiring and operating software.

"We can see in a very simple way in a complete building, be it industrial, residential, corporate, governmental or even university, the coexistence with several systems within which all the participants combine from the wiring, transmission and surveillance equipment to make possible the connectivity of all these systems.  This allows us to be much more specific in providing an integral solution to users, offering the best products according to the need we have to be covering, "says Gustavo García, Account Manager of Belden.

A holistic adoption of new trends in technology

The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) is revolutionizing the way industries work by connecting more smart devices and sharing the information they produce to improve existing business models and enable new ones. This trend will have an impact on reducing costs and increasing the efficiency of production, operations, maintenance and logistics. In the future, successful industries will be able to increase their revenue through IIoT by creating new business models.

Rodríguez highlights: "Accompanied by this trend, one of the first doubts that will come to mind to users in industries, is what will happen to the infrastructure that you already have, that is, if it can be reused or what can be done with it, both active equipment and structured cabling I think is one of the first questions."

Industries must take advantage of the resources they currently have as this will save costs that can be allocated to other areas of the business.

"Customer training topics allow us to shorten adoption paths to new technology trends. We still have a hard time understanding why it is necessary to make changes in technology and evolve hand in hand with it  to get out of our comfort zone. The current challenge of both Axis, NVT Phybridge and Belden is now focused on breaking the paradigms that customers maintain around new technologies and the path to innovation," says García.

"Today, industries are at a local stage that can be considered migration, because many, although they have already adopted this and seen the benefits it has, there are some who still do not. It is important to mention that there are ways to achieve what some industries are already implementing today," concludes Rodríguez.
