Latin America. Milestone Systems, the leading open platform network video management (VMS) software company, released its Device Pack 9.1 for the benefit of partners and customers using Milestone's XProtect video solutions.
Device packs are released every two months and contain software updates that support new equipment. These updates are always a priority at Milestone: supporting the widest possible range of devices is a fundamental part of the company's open platform promise to its users. This year, Milestone reached 6,000 compatible devices, an unprecedented number in the industry. Additional devices are constantly being added to each new device pack.
Advanced support for Digital Barriers body cameras
In the device pack 9.1 the support has been extended to the body cameras of Digital Barriers. XProtect can now interact with Digital Barriers' Edgevis servers. These specialized servers provide a secure and scalable video streaming platform, capable of streaming live video from cameras to users, over any wireless network, but especially those that have little bandwidth.
Thanks to open platform technology, this new feature supports milestone VMS's SVQR (scalable high-quality video recording) feature.
Using SVQR, a low-bandwidth connection can be used to send low-resolution video to a command center for real-time environmental recognition. When the camera is connected to a high-bandwidth network, high-quality recordings can be retrieved from the cameras' local storage via the XProtect 2017 Advanced VMS, either by event or schedule or manually.
This means that the SVQR feature enhances evidence research as well as real-time environmental recognition, offering added value to the Milestone community.
"We have a close relationship with Milestone, and we are delighted with the new possibilities offered by this integration. We are happy to be in the Milestone community as these types of partnerships give us the ability to extend our reach in the marketplace," said Colin Evans, Chief Operating Officer, Digital Barriers.
Support for ONVIF's H.265 video compression standard
Milestone is constantly working to expand support for the ONVIF standard. Device Pack 9.1 has built in support for the H.265 high-efficiency video streaming standard. So far, in this release many Dahua cameras have been subjected to verification tests that guarantee support for H.265 and others are in the process of verification.
Milestone committed to supporting ONVIF
Milestone works closely with device manufacturers that are part of the Camera Partner Program (CaPP) to achieve optimal interaction between their devices and the XProtect VMS. The same rigorous testing applies to controller standards such as ONVIF.
Before devices compatible with the ONVIF standard are included in the list of equipment supported, on site milestonesys.com, they were previously tested to ensure full functionality with XProtect's open platform technology. This allows the Milestone community to choose the best devices for their end users, from the widest selection on the market. Users have the guarantee of operation of any compatible device.
