Latin America. Axis Communications acquired Cognimatics, a retail-focused solutions company. Recently, Axis also announced the purchase of 2N, which operates in the digital intercom sector and also operates in the audio and IP intercom market for elevators.
The latest acquisition will enable Axis to offer more comprehensive video surveillance and business intelligence solutions focused on the retail market. Cognimatics software offers analytics that do people counting, measuring row size, and estimating customer flow.
"Cognimatics products are well-known and have a long history of success in the retail sector, and complement Axis solutions in this market. We are pleased to be able to offer this natural complement to existing Axis solutions," said Ray Mauritsson, CEO of Axis Communications.
Founded in 2003, Cognimatics is a Swedish company based in Lund. The company offers a suite of video analytics applications that can be used by retailers to obtain behavioral data used to improve performance, elevate the customer experience and ensure the safety of the establishment.
Axis Communications and Cognimatics have cooperated for years in the development and commercial sector to offer integrated solutions to a greater number of users. Cognimatics is present in more than 70 countries through a network of distributors and system integrators worldwide.
