Latin America. ONVIF, the world's leading standardization initiative for IP-based physical security products, announces the launch of a new web-based reporting tool for reporting reports of false ONVIF compatibilities, part of the organization's ongoing proactive education and compliance campaign, designed to ensure that all ONVIF compatibility reports from manufacturers of IP-based physical security products, are valid.
The new tool for reporting false compatibilities allows both members and non-members to submit information directly to ONVIF regarding false compatibility claims via the ONVIF website, www.onvif.org. The online reporting tool was developed in response to feedback from ONVIF members and the industry at large.
"The creation of ONVIF's new online compatibility reporting tool will allow anyone to easily share information with ONVIF regarding false compatibility reports," said Stuart Rawling, Chair of the ONVIF Communications Committee. "The integrity of the ONVIF brand must be preserved so that it maintains its value, and this new strategy for information sharing helps achieve that goal."
The online compatibility reporting tool is part of ONVIF's broader education and compliance campaign, designed to protect the ONVIF brand and preemptively and continuously monitor ONVIF's copyrights, trademarks and logos. Other components of the campaign include educating members and the industry, as well as offering easy access on the ONVIF website to the most up-to-date list of supported products and ONVIF member companies.
Founded in 2008, ONVIF now has more than 500 member companies on six continents and more than 5,000 profile-compatible products. With Profile S for video streaming, Profile G for recording and storage, Profile C for physical access control, Profile A Release Candidates for advanced access control settings, and Profile Q for easy installation and advanced security features, ONVIF continues to work with its members to expand the number of IP interoperability solutions that ONVIF compatible products can offer.
