Latin America. HID Global recently announced that it has been recognized for its efforts in sustainability and environmental responsibility by both customer Johnson Controls and the Austin Chamber of Commerce.
These awards add to the growing list of awards the company has received in recognition of its undisputed commitment to best practices for reducing the environmental impact of its global operations, products and solutions.
"We are proud that our customers and the community have chosen us for these environmental awards," said Kevin Teehan, vice president of strategic services and chief compliance officer at HID Global. "These recognitions from Johnson Controls and the City of Austin, both leaders in sustainability, validate HID Global's global business strategy as well as our corporate culture of commitment to global sustainability and environmental responsibility."
Johnson Controls selected HID Global as one of 16 suppliers that made critical contributions to sustainability and other essential product attributes in 2015. The awards were announced during the sixth edition of Supplier Recognition and Procurement Excellence Day, an event johnson Controls holds each year and a celebration of the strong partnerships that exist between the Fortune 500 company and its world-class suppliers.
HID Global was also publicly recognized for its sustainability achievements by the Austin Chamber of Commerce as part of the fifteenth edition of the Greater Austin Business Awards, one of the largest business events in Central Texas. The company was awarded, among more than 300 participants, the Intel Environmental Responsibility & Sustainability Award granted by the Chamber. About 300 companies were nominated for the Austin Chamber of Commerce Business Awards.
HID Global's sustainability initiatives focus on minimizing the company's carbon footprint, reducing operating costs, and creating environmentally friendly products and solutions for its customers. Key initiatives include its commitment to the design of sustainable buildings for all existing operations, refurbishments and new construction and an ongoing commitment to globally recommended practices for long-term sustainability management.
Among its many environmental achievements, HID Global has been recognized by the Austin Energy Green Building (AEGB) sustainable construction program and the Austin Business Journal by the company's North American headquarters and operations center, the only industrial facility in Central Texas to receive LEED platinum certification from the American Council on Sustainable Construction (USGB, for its acronym in English). The company also received ISO 14001:2004 certification for environmental management in facilities around the world.
