Latin America. Nutanix announced that it is working with Citrix to reduce infrastructure costs and complexity for deploying new desktop and application virtualization environments.
In addition, Citrix supports the complete Nutanix Acropolis solution, which has already been verified as Citrix Ready. The Nutanix Acropolis solution provides customers with a high-performance, scalable infrastructure to power industry-leading XenDesktop and Citrix XenApp products. Together, Nutanix and Citrix will provide a complete, simple, scalable and cost-effective solution for delivering virtual desktops and applications.
In the initial stage of this alignment, the Nutanix Xtreme Computing Platform using the Acropolis hypervisor has been verified as Citrix Ready for XenApp and XenDesktop 7.6, as well as for NetScaler and ShareFile. This verification, which comes just two months after the Acropolis hypervisor was introduced to the market, now gives joint customers of the companies more options in the infrastructure solution that powers their XenApp and XenDesktop deployments.
Customers will benefit from the Acropolis Distributed Storage Fabric, which provides enterprise-class storage services to all virtualized desktops and applications, and scales linearly to support deployments of any size. Based on proprietary Web-scale technologies, the Nutanix platform ensures fast end-user performance with advanced features such as data localization to reduce storage latencies and an innovative Shadow Cloning feature to reduce network traffic and accelerate overall performance at times of peak load.
The companies' joint customers are also expected to benefit from a greater selection of compatible hypervisors for their VDI initiatives, including the new Acropolis hypervisor. The Acropolis hypervisor, along with integrated consumer-grade virtualization management, reduces total infrastructure costs and streamlines virtual desktop deployments. The Nutanix Acropolis solution optimizes data center design by eliminating the hypervisor as a separately purchased silo and handled individually in the global infrastructure stack, resulting in operational and management simplification and improved economics for VDI projects.
The innovative Nutanix App Mobility Fabric, which provides seamless migration of virtual workloads between hypervisor environments, will benefit customers by giving them the freedom to choose the technologies that best fit their environment and IT budget.
